This may be the last Horrible for a week or so, as we're heading to Taiwan on Sunday night. I cheated a bit and found a doodle that shows my plans for the week: lots and lots of book reading. I spent part of yesterday buying new books in preparation for our travels. I can't wait to read and write and doodle and not work.
I'm fighting off a cold that is threatening to ruin my book vacation. Hopefully my heavy clothes and intake of vitamin C will hold it at bay. I'd hate to get to Taipei and be turned away at the airport for fear of flu.
We have our Naginata seminar and test this weekend. We should be good and exhausted by the time we board the plane on Sunday night (technically Monday morning).
I plan to have diary entries for our travels posted here. We all know how my plans usually go.
Another beautiful Friday. I can get used to Spring even in January. Hopefully it continues through the weekends. I'm sure the dogs would love to go to the dog park.
I'm running out of weather reports.
Another morning. They're starting to pile up, these mornings. It looks like while Button's (the dog) stomach is better, Ziggy may have caught what she had. He left me a nice surprise this morning. He ate, though, which is a good sign. So continues the never-ending saga of the dogs.
Still cloudy and cool out there. I hear the east coast is in summer already. If they can send over some of the warm air, we'd appreciate it. The cold wind storms are getting a bit old.
As to writing (the topic of today's Horrible), I don't have much to say. Except for a failed attempt at the first episode of a anime screenplay, I haven't written much more than these little excerpts. The words, they scare me still. Not sure how to get over my many fears.
One last thing. The full quotation (which I misquoted) is "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines" by Ralph Waldo Emerson. I've known it incorrectly as "consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds" for so long that I didn't even know it was wrong until someone quoted it to me. I like Emerson's version better. Consistency is actually good. It's the foolish consistencies that will get you in trouble.
Another beautiful day in Seattle. I've been looking forward to posting this Horrible. I hope you enjoy it.
This one took me way too long. You can see my terrible handwriting all over the screen. You do know you can make it bigger by clicking on the doodle, right? Here's an even larger version so you can read it (if that's your thing).
The website referred to in the Horrible is reddit. This is where I go to read teh entire internets. All the cool kids are doing it. You should too.
The weekend cometh!
A warm, rainy Friday. I caught a sore throat somewhere. I wish it would go away.
. . . and so they should.
If only affirmations = reality.
