Story idea: The timing of his death is inconvenient. Can we do something about it?

The story idea disgusted me when I had it. It’s good to get it out there and see if I can develop it. If it makes me uncomfortable, maybe there’s something to it. I was thinking of a character so narcissistic that the character acts on this thought. Not sure what that is or where I would go with it. It’s probably just another senseless idea in a labyrinth of senseless ideas.
