Go on without me

-Go on without me.

-Ok.

-No, really. Leave me here. I’m of no further use. It’s best off you go now.

-Got it.

-Where are you going?

-You said to go on without me.

-I didn’t mean for you to go on without me. I am suffering. How can you leave me alone like this?

-Oh.

-When I say go on without me, you’re supposed to sympathize. You stay behind and take care of me.

-Got it. I stay behind and take care of you.

-Right. Now, go on without me. I’m of no further use. I would only slow you down.

-Ok.

-You’re not getting it. I’m suffering here. Why would you leave me to suffer?

-Oh. So then you want me to stay?

-Isn’t that what I said?

-No, you said to go on without you.

-A real girlfriend would understand the difference between what I say and what I mean. When you told me you don’t like flowers, you didn’t really mean it, did you?

-But I never said I didn’t like flowers.

-Hypothetically, if you told me you didn’t like flowers, wouldn’t you still want me to buy you flowers?

-I like flowers. Why would I tell you not to buy them for me? You’re being ridiculous. Now, do you want me to wait here with you or leave?

-Do what you want. I’m a goner. This walk, it’s too long. The sun, it’s too bright. The day, it’s too long. It’s best off that you get home safe and leave me be in the elements.

-We’re two blocks from the house. Come along, even you can make it that far.

-I can’t do it. Go on without me.

-Such a baby.
